Release of Dimensions 2014 Issue

Dimensions – the SDMites Online Magazine honoured the winners for the best article, case study and book review of 2014 issue. Mr. Virender Pal Bhasin won the prize for the best article, Mr. Dinesh M.R. was awarded for the best book review and Mr. Chinnappa N.C. won the award for the best case study. The prizes for the winners were handed out by Prof. Malathi Sriram, Chairperson of Academic Programs at SDMIMD
The 2014 issue of Dimensions, the student run online magazine of SDMIMD was released by Mr. Dinesh Pillai, CEO, Mahindra Special Service Group (Mahindra SSG) during the inaugural session of the National Conference on Strategies, innovations and Paradigm shifts in Logistics and Supply Chain Management (LSCM 2014) organized by Shri Dharmsthala Manjuntheshwara Institute for Management Development (SDMIMD).

SDMIMD listed in India’s Top B-Schools Ranking

SDMIMD was ranked as one among the Top 50 B-Schools in India. The B-School survey results released recently by key magazines which publish B-School survey every year - Career 360, Competition Success Review (CSR), Outlook and The Week have listed SDMIMD among the Top 50 B-Schools in India again. CSR has ranked SDMIMD in 3rd in top private B-schools in Karnataka, while The Week has listed SDMIMD as 9th among the top private B-Schools in South Zone. Business India has listed SDMIMD under A++ category. The AAA+ ranking for performance in academics and infrastructure by Career 360 has made SDMIMD come to 33rd place among top 100 B-Schools in the country. CSR has ranked SDMIMD 17th under the Top 25 Emerging B-Schools of Super Excellence.

Guest talk by Alumnus

E Cell Swayam of SDMIMD organized a guest talk with a view to strengthening Business Planning competence in SDMIMD students.  The talk was delivered by its Alumnus Mr. Harinath G on January 9, 2015, the topic was "Different ways of funding start up projects and pro and cons of the same and different debt options available for start-ups along with the expectations of lenders". 
 
Mr. Harinath G, has vast experience in Finance specializing in Debt Structuring for various Business Needs. He was  associated with Debt Syndication initiatives   of over Rs 250 Crores  and has handled more than 25 assignments across various sectors.

Campus Visit by Chairman

On January 7, 2015 Honorable Chairman of SDMIMD Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari, Shri Kshetra Dharmasthala, visited the Institute. During the visit, Dr. Heggade chaired the Governing Council Meeting and visited the various sections of SDMIMD. 

Invited talks on 'Economic Outlook for India'

Prof. Gita Gopinath, Professor in Economics, Harvard University, gave interesting insights into macro-economic aspects and specific growth parameters for the Indian economy in an invited talk organized at Institute Auditorium in collaboration with Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) Mysore on December 20, 2014. On this occasion, Mr. Venkatesh Valluri, Chairman & President, Ingersoll Rand India delivered a talk on the topic ‘Building Organizations Fit for the Future’. Among several interesting suggestions for shaping organizations in the days to come, Mr. Venkatesh Valluri urged students to become entrepreneurs and develop a frame of mind which is innovative. Dr. N.R. Parasuraman, Director, SDMIMD and Mr. R.C. Jagadesh, CII Chairman Mysore, expressed their brief views on the talks delivered, which was followed by a Question and Answer session.

International Conference on the theme ‘Reviving Economic Growth’

The 3rd International Conference on Global Business, Economics, Finance and Social Sciences on the theme ‘Reviving Economic Growth!’ was organized at Mumbai during December 19 to 21, 2014 in collaboration with J A Alpha. This conference is part of the ongoing agreement between SDMIMD and J A Alpha as regards holding of conferences in various parts of India and abroad. 
 
Mr. Prakash Agarwal, Independent Banker, Finance Expert & CEO, Your Virtual CFO, Mumbai inaugurated the conference and delivered the keynote address. Prof. N.R. Parasuraman, Director, SDMIMD, offered felicitations and later delivered a talk on ‘Strategic Issues in Leadership'. The key note address was delivered by Vivek Bansal, President & Country Head, Financial Management of Yes Bank, and a special address was delivered by Prakash Agarwal, founder and CEO of Virtual CFO. 
 
Delegates from countries viz., Jordan, Iran, UAE, Oman, Qatar, U.S, South Africa, New Zealand, Malaysia, Thailand and Mauritius presented the papers on the conference theme during the technical sessions. About 45 papers were presented in the Conference.

Customized Management Development Program for JK Tyre Industries

A customized Management Development Program (MDP) was organized for J K Tyres & Industries Ltd. from December 15 to 18, 2014. This was the first of a series of similar programs being planned for this company. The participants were from from Vikrant Tire Plant (VTP), Mysore, and Chennai Tire Plant (CTP), Chennai, and were exposed to various areas of management comprising of Finance, Marketing, Human Resources, Operations, Information Technology and Managerial Communication. 
The program was inaugurated by the Director, Dr. N. R. Parasuraman, SDMIMD, Mysore and Shri H. N. Ramesh, General Manager, J K. Tyres. Shri Srinivasa B. S., Chief General Manager - HR & IR, JK Tyres, VTP; Shri P. Kannan from JK Tyres & Industries, VTP, Mysore, Dr. Ullas Rao, Program Coordinator, SDMIMD, Mysore and Mr. Gowri Prakash, Manager - HR, JK Tyre & Industries, VTP, Mysore, were present on this occasion.

Talk on Leadership Qualities of Swami Vivekananda

Dr. R. Balasubramaniam, Founder Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement, delivered a talk on “Vivekananda – The leader” at SDMIMD on December 8, 2014. The talk was organised under the combined aegis of Vivekananda Chair at Department of Philosophy, University of Mysore and Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Institute for Management Development (SDMIMD), Mysore. The speaker spoke about the five characteristics of a great leader – Compassion, Optimism, Faith, Humour and Mindfulness, citing examples from the lives and the works of Swami Vivekananda
He talked of the need to translate the vision into action through the instrumentality of the Heart to feel, the Head to think and the Hand to execute the action. The talk was followed up with a lively question and answers session. Dr. H.L. Chandrashekar, the Chairman, Department of Philosophy, Mysore University, Dr. N.R. Parasuraman, Director, SDMIMD and Prof. Govinda Sharma, SDMIMD, were present.
