CEO on Campus – Invited Talk

‘It is important that we desire to create rather than becoming a creation of something’ thus said Mr. Arunakar Mishra, MD and CEO, Genser Aerospace and information Technologies Pvt Ltd, Bangalore, during the orientation program invited talk delivered on June 16, 2017 at SDMIMD. 
 
Mr.Arunakar Mishra also spoke about Monte Carlo simulation and told the gathering that problem solving will be easier with the knowledge of Monte Carlo simulation and simulation in general.

MD of Skanray on Campus

Mr .Vishwaprasad Alva, Managing Director Skanray Technologies Pvt ltd., Mysuru, was the invited speaker for the orientation program talk scheduled on June 16, 2017 at SDMIMD. Mr. Alva addressed the PGDM 2017-19 students on the importance of domain skills, communication skills and how important it is to be updated in all fields. Mr. Alva also covered the importance of Business analytics, Data Analytics, Economics and Behavioural traits, in his talk.

Invited talk by CPF India HR Head

‘Successful person is the one who understands  change and makes changes’ thus said Ms. Rekha Raghavan, General Manager-HR CPF India Pvt. Ltd., Bangalore, during the invited talk delivered for the new batch of PGDM 2017-19 on June 15, 2017 at SDMIMD.
 
Ms Rekha Raghavan spoke about HR and told the gathering to strike a work-life balance and to appreciate diversity. The speaker also touched on MBTI. She asked the students to have fun, participate, maintain a level of discipline and also understand diversity.

Orientation Inaugural Talk by CEO of NR Group

Entrepreneurship, Strategy, Team Management, were the topics touched upon by Mr. Arjun Ranga, CEO, N. Rangarao & Sons, Mysore, during the inaugural talk of the Orientation Program for PGDM 2017-19 Batch on June 15, 2017. 
 
The interactive session by the CEO addressed the gathering on how a common man can start his own business, and the strategy to stay ahead. Mr. Arjun Ranga gave insights about the FMCG industry. Further, he gave his understandings on how to manage a team to the young managers. In the course of his address he gave many real life examples.
 

Orientation Program for PGDM 2017-19 Batch

Continuing customary practice, the new batch of PGDM 2017-19 students were welcomed with a brief Orientation Program. Invited talks from corporate professionals which introduced the young managers to the different dimensions of the management were very much informative and interactive. The program also introduced the students to the facilities, the institutional culture, faculty, courses and other support services available. 
 
Inaugurating the Orientation Program 2017, Prof S. Prabhakar, Hon. Secretary, SDM Educational Trust, in his address mentioned about the ethos of Dhamasthala and the qualities the students need to imbibe in themselves to become worthy members of the SDM family. He stressed on the qualities that a student should have - curiosity, humility and learnability.
 
Earlier, Dr. N.R. Parasuraman, Director, welcomed the students and remarked that this would probably be their last full time educational qualification. Hence, he asked them to utilize it to its fullest potential. 
 
The parents of newbees, faculty members, staff and senior students were present during the program inauguration. 

Orientation Program for PGDM 2017-19 Batch

An Orientation Week for the students of the incoming batch of PGDM 2017-19 will commence from June 14, 2017. A series of  lectures are organized throughout the week. The lecture series from prominent speakers is designed in manner that will bring in a lot of industry expertise and experience, for the students to assimilate and take advantage of. 
 
Other than the expert lectures, information sharing sessions are slotted in the schedule over the week for the students which covers the practicalities availing the student support services and the transition to postgraduate study. 
 

Tie-up with Abu Dhabi University, UAE

SDMIMD in continuation to its effort to collaborate with international universities has signed a MOU with Abu Dhabi University, UAE, establishing tie-up for the student and faculty exchange. The first student exchange is likely to take place in October / November 2017. With this, the number of international tie-ups has gone up to 7.

Business Landscape Course – PGDM 2016-18

Business Landscape, a knowledge expansion exercise was conducted by the SDMIMD faculty for the students entering the Second Year after their corporate internship.  The week long program from June 5-9, 2017, included topics on Effects of International Relations on Trade and Business, the US H1-B Visa issue,  Possible Causes of Future Job Losses, Futuristic Skill and Knowledge Requirements and student panel discussion on Skilling Oneself for the Future, Future Areas for Entrepreneurship. Special emphasis was given on learning about evolving technology.  An exciting student debate was held on the China OBOR initiative and India’s non participation in the recent summit.  Business Landscape Course was conceived and anchored by Prof Prasad SN and actively participated by several faculty members and invited speakers from the corporate.
