PGCPM Certificate Award Ceremony

In a simple and significant ceremony, the first batch of Post Graduate Certificate Program for Management (PGCPM) participants received the Certificates from Prof. S. Prabhakar, Honorable Secretary, SDM Educational Trust on Thursday, January 21, 2016 at SDMIMD.

Prof. S. Prabhakar congratulated the Student-Executives of the program from Infosys, Administrative Training Institute, ThoughtFocus and from other organizations. Prof. Prabhakar said those with a growth mindset believe in improvement through hard work and perseverance. As a result they achieve success both in academic and corporate opportunities.

Prof. Malathi Sriram, Program Chairperson & Faculty-Systems, SDMIMD, presented an overview about the PGCPM program which is a Dual Certification (PGDM & PGCPM) 2-year Executive Program offered by SDMIMD in collaboration with All Indian Management Association (AIMA), New Delhi. Further, she shared the experiences of the student-executives over their 2-years journey of the program.

Dr. N.R. Parasuraman, Director, SDMIMD, delivered the welcome address. The faculty members, students and staff members were present.

‘Study Abroad Immersion Program’ for Maryland University Students

SDMIMD hosted a ‘Study Abroad Immersion Program’ for 4 students from the University of Maryland, USA in January 2016. The program scheduled between January 16 and 18, 2016 2016, was interspersed with several activities such as industry visit and special sessions by faculty members.

The industry visit to J.K. Tyres Ltd., Mysuru; included a talk about the plant and the company by the HR-Manager of JK Tyres Ltd. Visit to Infosys Technologies, Mysuru was the part of the schedule.

The special sessions from the faculty members were handled by Dr. N.R Parasuraman, Director, SDMIMD, on ‘financial markets’. He talked as to how and why the volatility of the stock markets affect the economy of various countries. This was followed by Round-table discussion by a team of 4 students lead by Prof. Sugant R from the area of Marketing. A presentation-cum-round table discussion regarding the current start-ups scenario in India, focused on the pros and cons of start-ups ensued.

The visiting team of students was lead by Dr. Srikantaiah 'Kanti' Tavarakere, Professor at the University.

International Symposium 2016

Talk on 'Preparation of B-Plan"

Mr. Rajesh, Founder - Hightway Delite and Alumnus of SDMIMD delivered talk on "Preparation of B-Plan" on January 9, 2016. The talk was organizedby Swayam - the e-Cell of SDMites under the series “How to Prepare a B-plan”. Mr. Rajesh with his wide experience in various field like IT, investment etc., focused his talk on the nitty-gritty of business plan with the template that could be used even for the seed- funding for a start-up. The talk was very informative for the students and gave a ready template to plan for entrepreneurship initiatives.

SDMIMD students at University of Bordeaux

Mr. Mayuk Dominic Rebello, Mr. Chiranjeevi B & Mr. Griffin Philip Varghese, students from PGDM 2015-17 Batch, have traveled to University of Bordeaux, France, as part of the student exchange program.These students will be studying a full trimester there.

SDMIMD has Student Exchange Programs with the Texas A&M University, USA, Global Management Institute of Shanghai University, China, University of Dubai & University of Bordeaux, France. Every year, students can opt to study one term at either of the above Institutes.

CEO’s Meet on ‘Make in India’

	SDMIMD the resource partner in the One-day CEOs Meet organized by Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI), organized as part of the ‘Make in India’ movement on January 3, 2016. In his address on “Venture capital and its role in the new eco system” Dr. N.R. Parasuraman, Director & Professor – Finance, SDMIMD, Mysuru, emphasised the need to be conscious of basis valuation parameters as well as the possible over-exuberance of start-ups.
In the invited talk delivered by Dr. R. Jagadeesh, Dean Academics & Professor – Operations Management, SDMIMD, Mysuru, said that “constraints like, lack of suitable infrastructure, preference to fresh food, high taxation and packaging cost, wastage and damage, inefficient supply chain, and inadequate quality testing facilities can hamper the food industry. Hence it is better to go for international standards, compliance with food safety and hygiene standards, benchmarking with global players, and improving all the peripheral services like transportation, preservation, packaging, and above all minimizing the overall cost of operations”. Prof. S. N. Prasad, Associate Professor, moderated the deliberations of the meet.

SDMIMD's PGDM Program Re-Accredited by NBA

SDMIMD is one among the premier B-Schools imparting quality education in Management from past twenty three years. The flagship program - Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) - is re-accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA) for a period of two years from 1st July, 2015.

Apart from this, the candidature for the International Accreditation with ACBSP & EFMD; International Student and Faculty Exchange programs with Texas A&M University, Shanghai University, British University in Dubai (BUiD), University of Dubai, London College of Business Sciences and University of Bordeaux; and International Conference at different places in Globe; have made the opearations at SDMIMD truly international.

Kolkata Conference 2015

The 4th International Conference on Global Business, Economics, Finance and Social Sciences with the theme “Green Economy! For Sustainable Development!” was organized jointly by SDMIMD as Academic Partner and J.A. Alpha during December 18-20, 2015 at Hyatt Regency Kolkata, India.

Dr. Mousumi Sengupta delivered the invited talk during the conference on “HRM & Organizational Sustainability". Prof. Malathi Sriram, was a Panel member for the discussion on “Ensuring Academic Integrity and Honesty - The Role of an Academician” Dr. Srimantoorao. S. Appadoo, from the University of Manitoba, Canada; Dr. Stephen ARO-GORDON, from Baze University, Nigeria; and Dr. Mohammad Ataur Rahman, from Bangladesh Agricultural University, Bangladesh; were other panel members. Dr. Elango Rengasamy, from The British University in Dubai, Dubai, UAE, was the Moderator.

During the technical sessions Dr. Mousumi Sengupta presented paper on “Green HRM” and Prof. Malathi Sriram presented research paper on “Comparative Analysis of MOOC platforms”.

Highlighting the programs of the Micro-credit enterprise development program, Mr. Thomas shared the achievement of the micro finance sector in social, training, women empowerment, counselling and other bunch of other services.

Following the talk by Mr. Paul Thomas a special video talk on 'Intelligence, Ability and Social Responsibility' was delivered by Mr. K. Ramkumar, Executive Director, ICICI Bank, which was very well received by the audience.

Earlier, in his welcome address Dr. N.R. Parasuraman, Director of SDMIMD brought out the challenges confronting management students in Finance with fast-changing global volatility like the present Chinese yuan crisis, and the rise of special social schemes like microfinance which seeks to do what conventional banking has been unable to.

Student Exchange Program with University of Bordeaux


SDMIMD has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with the University of Bordeaux, France, for student exchange program. Pursuant to this 3 students from SDMIMD will be spending a term in Bordeaux during the period January to March, 2016. Students from Bordeaux are expected to visit SDMIMD for a term from June, 2016.
