Naissance 2017

  
The students of SDMIMD organized the flagship student event of the institute Naissance 2017 edition - a National Level Management Fest during February 3 & 4, 2017. The event was designed under the theme “India-The Promised Land” which reflects India as a jewel in the emerging market crown. Naissance’17 challenged the management students from across the country on various fields of management through 8 events, namely, The Best Manager, Finance, Marketing, HR, Operations and Logistics, Systems, Business Plan and Photography challenge. 
 
The event which was a host to around 140 participants from different B-Schools, was inaugurated by Dr. H. Gayathri, Deputy Director, SDMIMD, by lighting of the lamp, Dr. R Jagadeesh, Student Coordinators Mr. Narendran V and Ms. Shushma Chengappa joined. The event began with the welcome note by Ms. Shushma Chengappa followed by an address by Dr. R Jagadeesh and Dr. H Gayatri. The two day event was sponsored by Acer Incorporation, Vijaya Bank, Reliance Jio and GRS Fantasy Park Mysore. 
 
The valedictory function of the management fest held on February 4, 2017. Prof M. Sriram of SDMIMD, Mr. Rajagopal of Reliance Jio, participants and the students of SDMIMD were present during the prize distribution and valedictory ceremony.
 
Mr. Nirmal Abraham from DCSMAT Cochin was recognized as the “Best Manager” in Naissance 2017. St. Joseph’s Institute of Management Bangalore was identified as the Overall Champions for bagging the maximum number of awards in the event. The two day fest came to an end with the vote of thanks delivered by the Student Coordinator Mr. Narendran V.

YB Debate 2017

The 5th Edition of ‘Prof. Y. Bhagavan Memorial National Level English Debate’ was jointly organized by SDMIMD and Rotary Mid-town Mysore, on February 3 & 4, 2017 at SDMIMD. Dr. C. Naganna, Visiting Professor, and Former Professor of English & Director of Prasaranga, University of Mysore, delivered the inaugural address. Dr. Naganna in his address said ‘oratory fulfils the lofty purpose; it is up to us to realize its elevated office. Hence, there is need to recover and understand the dignity of a Debate. Our younger men and women have wonderful argumentative ability. My only plea is that they should adopt their superior communicative skill to a higher purpose. It is easy for them to side with rich and powerful because of the verbal mastery. But, their personality will acquire and undimmed lustre if they speak for the weak and voiceless’. Read More>

Cinematics 2017 – Photo & Mannequin Challenge

Drishti – the photo club of SDMites organized the 2017 edition of “Cinematics” - a Photography and Mannequin challenge competition as a part of Naissance 2017, with the theme centered on “People of India”.  A photography exhibition was also conducted to display the captures, which was inaugurated and judged by renowned wildlife photographer and photojournalist S Thippeswamy. Mr. Thippeswamy provided guidance and feedback to the photography committee and offered to conduct workshops for photography enthusiasts in the college. The photography competition was won by Arjun Kumar from Hindustan College (First place) and Jagan P from SDMIMD (Second place). Rajkumar and Madhurish Katta from VVCE, won the Mannequin challenge.

YB Debate 2017

105 speakers from across India which included 3 speakers from abroad presented their notions during the first round of this debate on the topics “Irrespective of the hostilities between India and Pakistan, Pakistani artists should be allowed to work in India.” and “Demonetization: gain not worth the pain”. The Top 15 speakers from the first round selected for the Final Round to debate on “Patrilineal culture makes second class citizens of women” on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at SDMIMD Auditorium.
 
Mr. Jeydev C.S. of National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bengaluru, won the First Place; Ms. Shree Shishya Mishra of Alliance School of Law, Bengaluru, stood 2nd and Mr. Dinesh Jagadeesh of PES Engineering College, Mandya, secured the 3rd Place. Out of the finalists 7 members were given consolation prizes. 

‘Tech-Yaana’ for Adarsha Vidyalaya Young Minds

SDMites ‘Club Silicon’ conducted an IT workshop “Tech-Yaana” for the young minds of “Adarsha Vidyalaya” the school identified for LIFE@School Project. The workshop was conducted for high school students on January 30, 2017, focused on imparting basics of Computer nd  Video showing the evolution of Computer; technological inclusion in Education system; and how computer functions internally? 

Library to Young Minds by SDMites

 
The Library Initiative For Education at School in short 'LIFE @ School' Team of SDMIMD extended a library to Government Adarsha Vidhyalaya School at Jockey Quarters Mysore. The library was inaugurated by Deepthi and Pranav the students of the School on December 15, 2016.
 
Dr. H Gayathri, Deputy Director, Dr. R. Jagadeesh, Dean-Academics; Prof. Rajendra Todalbagi, Dr. M.V. Sunil of SDMIMD; Mr. Sathish, Head Master of the school; teachers, students from SDMIMD, were present during this inaugural event. 
 

Karnataka Rajyotsava Celebrations

Karnataka Rajyotsava was celebrated at Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Institute for Management Development, Mysore, on November 29, 2016. The event started with hosting of the Kannada flag by the Director of the Institute, Dr. N. R. Parasuraman. Students sang the Kannada Naadageete ‘Jaya Bharata Jananiya tanujaate’. A special lunch with unique dishes of Karnataka was served by the students of Karnataka to other 20 states students, faculty and staff members of the institute. Kannada songs were played in the campus. 
 
In the evening, sports and cultural programs were organized. Traditional local games were introduced to other state students. Students from other states sang Kannada songs and danced to the tunes. Kabaddi match played between the staff and students’ teams and the ‘Folk dance’ performance were the highlights of the celebrations.

VITTAKSH 2016

VITTAKASH - the annual flagship event from ‘Finacle’ – the SDMites Finance Club was held on November 22, 2016 at SDMIMD. ‘Indian Economy: Boom or Bubble’ was the theme for VITTAKASH ’16. A total  16 teams of 2 members each got selected for the final round from the first round of online quiz held on November 14, 2016.  Students from the Symbiosis Institute of Business Management (SIBM), Bengaluru, won the first prize of Rs. 20,000 and Mysore Royal Academy (MYRA) stood second with the cash Rs. 15,000.
