Program Overview
 
In the contemporary educational arena, marked by rapid evolution, Artificial Intelligence (AI) integration offers unparalleled avenues for augmenting teaching methodologies and scholarly pursuits. This program is meticulously crafted to equip educators and researchers with the requisite expertise to capitalise on AI's capabilities, thereby enhancing student learning outcomes and propelling scholarly innovation.
 
Participants will explore AI's application in education and research, examining state-of-the-art approaches, established best practices, and tangible implementations. The program encompasses diverse AI technologies.
 
Structured around interactive workshop format & practical exercises led by domain experts, the program aims to furnish participants with the knowledge to leverage AI in crafting dynamic and individualised educational experiences. Moreover, it will demonstrate how AI can streamline to bolster research efficiency, and encourage cross-disciplinary collaboration across academic institutions.
 
Participants will thoroughly comprehend AI's significance in education and research, alongside actionable strategies for seamlessly integrating AI technologies into their pedagogical and scholarly initiatives. Resource Persons

Dr. Sunil M.V., specializing in Systems and General Management, former Head of Academic Administration and former Co-ordinator for SDM Research Centre for Management Studies (SDM RCMS). He is a Certified American Library Association (ALA) and IIM Bangalore Fellow. Dr. Sunil's intellectual contributions extend beyond the classroom. He has authored papers featured in reputable journals, conferences, book chapters & online course materials, further enriching academic discourse.
 
Dr Mamta Hegde, an alumnus of IIM Indore, holds a PGDM and a PhD in Corporate Leadership. She boasts a wealth of experience in academia and the corporate world, specializing in self-branding and pedagogical research. Dr Hegde has made significant contributions to national and international journals and is renowned for her impactful training programs.

FDP for MBA Faculty of GSSS

The MBA Faculty of GSSS Institute of Engineering & Technology for Women, Mysore, participated in a two-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) in Management, held on October 30-31, 2023.
 
The faculty team from SDMIMD and GSSS inaugurated the program & faculty resource persons of SDMIMD conducted various sessions on different topics for a duration of 2 days, as mentioned below:
 
  • Specialization topics in Finance by Dr. M. Sriram, Dr.Riyaz Ahmed, and Dr. S. Kannadas.
  • Specialization topics in HRM by Dr. Mousumi Sengupta, Dr.Mamta Hegde, and Dr. L. Gandhi
  • Specialization topics in Marketing by Dr. Nanda Kishore Shetty, Dr. Keerthan Raj, and Dr.S. Saibaba
The program concluded with a valedictory session and the distribution of certificates.

2nd batch FDP for Professors & Doctors of SDM Ayurveda College, Udupi

A two days Faculty Development Programme was conducted at SDM Ayurveda College, Udupi on 25th and 26th september 2023 for the 2nd batch of their Professors & Doctors. Following sessions were conducted by the faculty resource persons of SDMIMD during these two days:
 
  • Professional & Personal Goal setting,Communication & Presentation skills ,Time and Stress Management by Dr.L.Gandhi
  • Making your profession your passion,Team building & Leadership skills, Role model for students and Public by Dr. Mamta Hegde
  • Updating teaching skills, Application of AI in class room & Application of AI in research and Scientific paper writing by Dr.Sunil MV
The programme was very well appreciated by all the participants as well as by SDMAC Principal Dr.Mamata K.V. and Programme coordinator Dr. Gayathri Hegde. 

Faculty Development Program

A 14-hour Faculty Development Programme was conducted at SDM College of Ayurveda and Hospital, Udupi for their Professors & Doctors on 6th and 7th July 2023.

Following sessions were conducted by the SDMIMD, Mysore faculty resource persons during these two days:

  • Professional & Personal Goal setting, Communication & Presentation skills, Time and Stress Management by Dr.L.Gandhi
  • Making your profession your passion, Team building & Leadership skills, Role model for students and Public by Dr. Mamta Hegde
  • Updating teaching skills by Dr.Sunil MV
  • Creativity, Innovation and problem solving skills to promote research attitude by Dr.S.Saibaba
The programme was well appreciated by the participants as well as by the SDMCA Principal Dr. Mamata K.V. and Programme coordinator Dr. Gayathri Hegde.

FDP on Innovative Teaching Methods

Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “Innovative Teaching Methods” was conducted at SDMIMD on 30th May 2023. FDP was inaugurated by Director-SDMIMD Dr.S.N. Prasad. 
 
The sessions were conducted by the SDMIMD faculty resource person Dr. Mousumi Sengupta -Professor in Organizational Behaviour and Human Resources area, and Dr. Sunil MV, Assistant Professor- General Management area.
 
The Topics covered in the FDP were: Types and methods of innovative teaching, Role plays & Case study methods of innovative teaching, Artificial Intelligence-Introduction, Hands-on experience on AI tools, Designing AI based student assignment and evaluation techniques.
 
The programme was well appreciated by the participants who were the faculty members of various reputed Management Institutes in and around Mysore.

In-house FDP on Online Platform for Teaching-Learning

Prof. M. Minhaj, Associate Professor – Systems, SDMIMD, conducted training program on use of Online Platform for teaching learning process. The features available in the Enterprise Edition of the software was demonstrated and the applicability in the real classroom scenario was discussed. The online training program was organized on May 27, 2021.

‘Every class is an experimenting lab with live brains for a faculty and we experiment with new methods, tools & techniques, and, resources’ thus said Dr. Ruth Shantha Kumari, Principal, St. Philomena’s College, Mysore, during the inauguration of the 2-Day Faculty Development Program (FDP) on Teaching & Learning organized jointly by Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Institute for Management Development (SDMIMD) and St. Philomena’s College, Mysore, held on July 2 & 3, 2019 at SDMIMD. 

 
Earlier, Dr. N.R. Parasuraman, Director, SDMIMD, delivered the welcome address. 
 
Mr. Pinto, Director – PG Department, St. Philomena’s College said ‘Institutes should follow a balanced approach in offering the quality education to the affordable and deprived section of the society. This helps in making the young generation to contribute to the nation building equally in future’. 
 
Dr. R. Jagadeesh, the principal Resource Person of the program introduced the theme and introduced the dignitaries. The other Resource persons Prof. Gandhi, Prof. Minhaj and Dr. Sunil were present. More than 40 faculty members from Post Graduate Department of St. Philomena’s College participated in the program. 

FDP on Communicating Effectively in the Classroom: Communication Skills for Teachers

A one-day FDP on "Communicating Effectively in the Classroom: Communication Skills for Teachers" was held on June 13, 2019, at SDMIMD. The FDP focused on understanding the barriers to communicating effectively in the classroom and discussed the techniques to overcome the same. The importance of a teacher as a leader in the classroom and the impact they can have on students was emphasized. The changing role of a teacher in the 21st century was discussed.

Topics such as verbal and non-verbal communication, managing time and the need to design effective visuals to sustain interest were highlighted.

Thirty-one faculty from SDM MMK College for Women attended the FDP for which the resource person was Dr Neetu Ganapathy. Dr M.V. Sunil the coordinator of the program was present.
