Talk on Market Research for Marketing Strategy

Ms. Saroj Sridhar, Feedback Business Consulting, delivered a special talk on the topic ‘How Marketing Research helps in formulating Marketing Strategy?’ on November 27, 2014 at the Institute Auditorium.

Mr. Dinesh wins IFLA 2014 Award

Mr. Dinesh M.R.of PGDM 2013-15 Batch received the Infocom Future Leadership Award (IFLA) award for having placed among the top 6 papers, selected by KPMG India, the Talent Partner for the International B-School Open Paper Writing Competition organized by ABP Pvt Ltd. The other Top 5 papers were from IIM-B, ISB, XLRI and Great Lakes.  Mr. Dinesh article on the theme "Entrepreneurship" will be published in IFLA 2014 Compendium. The top six will be presenting their paper at the final round scheduled on December 5, 2015 at Hotel ITC Sonar, Calcutta. 
SDMites have done it again! It may be recalled here that year the paper "Empowerment & Social Businesses" by Mr. Deepak Nesarikar had won the IFLA 2013 award. 

58th Karnataka Rajyotsava Celebration

On November 21, 2014 SDMIMD was transformed into a festival mood on the occasion of Rajyotsava celebrations. Students from 28 states of India happily participated in the festivities of the 58th Anniversary of Karnataka State Formation day.The event began with decorating of the photo of ‘Bhuvaneshwari - Karnataka Maate’ and lighting the traditional lamp. All the SDMites got an opportunity to taste various cuisines of Karnataka which included traditional Ragi Muddae (Ball) and Holige. Students from Karnataka played host for all the celebrations and cheerfully served the food on plantain leaves. Melodious Kannada songs were played on this occasion.​ The celebration culminated with the cultural programs in the evening.

Swayam's invited talk by Alumnus

Mr. Vijay Kumar A.S. alumnus of SDMIMD and independent Investment Advisory & Wealth Management; and, Principle Associate for ING Financial Services, visited the campus upon the invitation by Swayam - the entrepreneurial cell of SDMites on Sunday, November 16, 2014. The invited talk focused on the preparation and presentation of Business Plan (B-Plan). In his talk Mr. Vijay touched upon the intricacies of  a B-Plan and explained its impact on business, taking examples from his experience. Corporate profiling, Investment Life Cycle of a Business, importance of valuation, entrepreneurial approaches & resource requirements, were some of the few other topics covered by speaker​.

SDMites win HRM & Marketing Events @ CMS Festival

 
SDMites won the FIRST PLACE in HRM and Marketing events of ‘CMS Festival’ of JSS CMS. CMS Festival - the National Management Fest of JSS Center for Management Studies was held on November 14 & 15, 2014.  Aditi Bhattacharya & Sudipta Pan of PGDM 2013-15, emerged as winners of the Human Resource Event "Prudentia".  Sushobhan Saha & Virender Pal Bhasin won the first position in the Marketing Event.​

Talk on "ERP Journey at the Multinational"

Mr. Venkatesh S. Rao a Business Consultant delivered an invited talk on "ERP Journey at a Multinational" on November 15, 2014. The success stories shared by Mr. Venkatesh during his talk were very inspiring.

SDMIMD & CII Invited talk

Dr. Gita Gopinath, Professor of Economics, Harvard University, will be delivering an invited talk on December 20, 2014 at the SDMIMD auditorium. The talk is organized in association with Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) Mysore and is open for public.

Corporate & Academic Meet @ CSR Conference

A 2-Day Conference on “Corporate Social Responsibility – Approaches and Practices for Inclusive Growth” was organized by SDMIMD during November 13 & 14, 2014. The conference provided a platform for academics, practitioners, researchers and students to deliberate and reflect on issues pertaining to CSR strategies and building socially responsible businesses . More than 50 papers were presented at the conference.
Mr. J.P. Haran, Managing Director, Tata Consulting Engineering, the Chief Guest and keynotespeaker for the inaugural session of the Conference said that CSR activity would contribute in minimizing risk in business and corporates must take forward the social activity. Mr. Haran urged the participants to contribute 2% of their profit for CSR activity to support those in need. Eminent personalities who graced the conference as speakers and panelists were: Ms. Shachi Irde, Executive Director, Catalyst India WRC; Ms. Priti Parekh, Senior Managing Director, CopalAmba; Dr. B.R. Pai, Vijaya Foundation; Mr. Joseph Sunil, Tata Consultancy Services; and, Dr. L.H. Manjunath, Executive Director, SKDRDPMr. E.S. Chakravarthy, Centre Head, Bangalore, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), delivered the valedictory address.
