The Foundation Day lecture at SDMIMD is an event to commemorate the founding of the Institute 25 years back. Year after year, we have been having distinguished speakers who have made a mark on society as the speaker for this occasion.
This year’s Foundation Day Lecture is special as SDMIMD will be celebrating its 25th Year of inception. The Silver Jubilee Foundation Day Lecture 2018 will be delivered by Indian space scientist K. Dr Stephen Aro-Gordon, Professor, Department of Business and Accounting, Muscat College, Sultanate of Oman; conducted a workshop on "Controlling a Project: Understanding the Earned Value Management (EVM) Technique" for the finance specialization students of PGDM 2017-19 Batch on June 7 & 8, 2019 at SDMIMD. Dr Aro Gordon has been earlier associated with the Institute as an Adjunct Faculty.

| MDP on Essentials of Business Analytics |

A two-day MDP on Essentials of Business Analytics was held on 12 and 13 June 2019. Prof. Mohamed Minhaj was the resource person for the program. The program provided a comprehensive introduction to the domain of analytics. The discussion about the difficulties involved in managerial decision making served as an icebreaker. Later, the role that analytics can play in better decision making was discussed. After discussing several use-cases like Market Basket Analysis, Remarketing, and Sentiment Analysis the approach, techniques and tools for analytics were deliberated upon . The program also had hands-on sessions pertaining to Machine Learning using a open-source software. Dr. Sunil M. V coordinated the event.

A one-day MDP on "Effective Business Presentation Skills" was held on June 14, 2019, at SDMIMD. Oftentimes, business executives are unable to present their ideas clearly to their target audience, be they clients, peers or superiors. This results in ineffective presentations which serve no purpose. The MDP focused on aiding participants in understanding the core competencies of an effective presenter and guided them in making good speech habits a part of their repertoire.

The award is in recognition for the appreciation for the reports to Business Standard column 'Campus Talk'. Mr S. Jayaraam, Region Head - Market Development and Regional Manager Mr Madhu of Business Standard gave away the award which includes the certificate, cash prize and goodies from the company. |

Mr J. Vikas of PGDM 2018-20 won the 'Mr Integrity Model South India' title and emerged as the runner-up in the Ranai Beauty Pageant 2019 competition held in Hassan during April 2019. Impressed by the performance of Mr Vikas in ramp walk, dance, Q&A rounds during the audition, the jury members selected him directly to the final round. Mr Vikas is also Mr NIEIT during his Engineering. |

The first Annual General Body Meeting of Prerana - SDMIMD Alumni Association was held on Friday, June 14, 2019, at Ballal Residency, Bangalore. Delivering the presidential address, the Chairman of the Association Dr N.R. Parasuraman, Director, SDMIMD, called upon SDMites for a grand year-long celebration of 25 Years of Institute inception and discussed the roadmap for Prerana. Earlier, Mr Niranjan Naik, Secretary, welcomed the gathering, followed by a demonstration of the Prerana website by Executive Committee Member Mr Madan. Mr Arun Padaki, President - Prerana thanked the gathering. |

Dr. M.R. Suresh evaluated a Ph D thesis in the area of Marketing and was subsequently part of the thesis defence assessment as well for a leading university. He was also part of the evaluation of the synopsis of another Ph D candidate.

Dr. Neetu Ganapathy conducted a workshop on Monday, June 10, 2019 for undergraduate students from across Kodagu on how to prepare for an interview. The workshop comprised of a session on the essentials of facing an interview which was followed by practice interviews. The workshop, which was attended by 31 students, most of whom were impacted by the floods in Kodagu last year, was part of "Spoorthi 2019", a motivational camp for underprivileged students organised by the Kodava Deenabandhu Charitable Trust, Mysore. The Trust takes up the cause of underprivileged college students from across Kodagu by providing them with training and scholarships.
