Table Topics Contest

On March 11, we had the Table Topics Contest conducted by TM Kavitha, TM Himanshu and TM Ritesh. We had 8 participants and the winners are TM Revanth who secured the first place, TM Anuradha in the second place and TM Siddanth who secured the third place.

Leadership Training Program

On 10th February Toastmasters International conducted Leadership training programme for all the officers in Mysore area and this was a two-day orientation with a training session to help the budding leaders to come up with a plan of action for the present term. Each of the officers had the orientation in a separate forum. Post training there was an entertainment programme which involved a lot of learning with fun activities. 

Eloquent Tenali Rama

On 1st and 2nd February 2019, SDMIMD Toastmasters, for the first time, conducted a speech contest, the Eloquent Tenali Rama, as a part of Naissance 2019. This contest saw enthusiastic participation from students of various colleges. The enthusiastic Toastmasters of SDMIMD put the participants to test with the following rounds:
 
  1. Impromptu speech
  2. Enact a given Situation
  3. Debate
  4. Humorous Speech
  5. Shipwreck

Motivational Talks

   
On January 25, 2019, Mr. Pranab Singh, an entrepreneur, motivational speaker and business mentor was invited to address the students of the first year. Mr. Singh began his talk by sharing his life experiences. He also narrated the failures which he had encountered in his journey to become an entrepreneur. Mr. Singh emphasized that good is never great. He opined that continuous development is essential and seeking development is vital for the growth of both the enterprise and an entrepreneur. He also highlighted the value of communication in today’s dynamic business scenario. 

Invited talk by Ms. TM Sujata Rajpal

On July 21, 2018, the SDMIMD Toastmasters’ Club organized a motivational talk for the batch of 2018-20. TM Sujata Rajpal, an author and TEDx speaker, delivered the talk titled “It’s not as difficult, as it appears”. She shared her experience of dealing with failure and urged the audience to persist in their efforts despite difficulties that may come their way. Her talk was followed by a briefing on Toastmasters International and its activities by Distinguished TM Haris AW. He told students about the benefits of being a Toastmaster. The program was compered by TM Rahul Hirani, Vice President-Public Relations, SDMIMD Toastmasters’ Club. TM Sreerag Rajendran, President SDMIMD Toastmasters’ Club, delivered the welcome address. The meeting ended with a vote of thanks proposed by TM Dichin Sunder, Vice President Education, SDMIMD Toastmasters’ Club. TM Athul TP, Secretary SDMIMD Toastmasters’ Club and other members of the club were present.

Toastmaster talk

On June 24, 2017, the batch of 2017 was introduced to Toastmasters International.  TM Rohit Koka delivered a motivational speech and told the batch of the benefits of becoming a member. TM Vedanth from the Infosys club spoke about the practical importance of the club and he cited examples of how members gained from the club and improved. The meeting was hosted by TM Madhavi Chouthai, Vice President-Education, SDMIMD Toastmasters’ Club. The meeting ended with a vote of thanks proposed by TM Anand. M. Dileep, President SDMIMD Toastmasters’ Club.

Session by Toastmasters International

On Saturday July 2, 2016, the first year students attended a program on Toastmasters International. The session was meant to create awareness for Toastmasters International and explain how it can help to improve their communication  and leadership skills.
 
Toastmaster Rohit Koka, President of Mysore City Toastmasters addressed the students and told them how effective communication can provide a competitive edge in their career. Toastmaster Yashaswi from L & T Mysore, the Area Director, explained about the functioning of a Toastmasters club and its many benefits.
 
Toastmaster Arjun P. S., the President of the SDMIMD Toastmasters club informed the students about the club and its activities and provided information on  to become a Toastmaster. Toastmaster Poovendhiran, the past Area Director from SPI was present. The program was compered by Toastmaster Abhijith of the SDMIMD Toastmasters club.​

Talk by Toastmaster Mr. Arjun Urs

Mr. Arjun Urs, a Leadership Coach from Bangalore and a Distinguished Toastmaster, addressed the students of the I year on the topic '​Importance of Communication and Leadership Skills​' on June 16, 2015. 
 
Mr. Arjun spoke to the students on the importance of honing their communication skills and having a positive outlook towards life. Toastmasters Rohit Koka, Sagar M and Haris were present and addressed the students on the benefits of becoming a Toastmaster.

Toastmaster Emergence 2015 @ SDMIMD

Emergence 2015, a training program for all Toastmasters (TMs) in Mysore was held at the Institute on March 8, 2015. Emergence is an education program & training platform aimed to help Toastmasters to hone their communication skills and prepare for upcoming contests. The half-day program hosted by SDMIMD Toastmasters Club, was attended by over 30 TMs from InfosysSPI, L&T, MYRA School of Business and Mysore City Toastmasters Club. The program included four sessions which were conducted by distinguished Toastmasters from Mangalore: the Divisional Governor TM Anita Cordeiro, TM Nivedita, TM Divyashree and TM Rajat Shetty
In her session, the Divisional Governor TM Anita Cordeiro, chalked out strategies that can be used for impromptu speaking. TM Niveditha focussed on three aspects of a speech: content, delivery and language. She demonstrated the effective use of drama in a speech to create a lasting impact on the audience. TM Divyashree elaborated on the rules and regulations to be borne in mind while participating in a contest. The last session by TM Rajat Shetty addressed various aspects that can help in effectively delivering a prepared speech. The program culminated with lunch at the SDMIMD Mess.
