Outbound Learning programme in Management for GSSS Students

A 5-day Outbound Learning programme in Management was conducted at SDMIMD for 115 MBA students of GSSS IETW, Mysore from 5th to 9th February 2024. The programme was inaugurated by the SDMIMD Faculty team along with Dr. Shivakumar, Principal of GSSS, and the MBA faculty members of GSSS.
 
This was followed by various sessions conducted by the faculty resource persons of SDMIMD on different topics for 5 days as mentioned below:

The programme concluded with a valedictory ceremony and certificate distribution. The programme was well appreciated by the student participants of GSSS as well as the Principal & MBA faculty Members of GSSSIETW.

3rd Edition of the HR Best Practices Competition

CII Mysuru hosted the 3rd Edition of the HR Best Practices Competition at SDMIMD to encourage and promote excellence in HR. The CII Mysuru Zone CSR, HR & IR Panel organized the event on Thursday, 1st February 2024. Many companies in and around Mysuru participated in the competition, showcasing their best HR practices.

Naissance 2024, the flagship B-School Management Fest of SDMIMD, Mysore, kicked off with great enthusiasm and fervor. The event was inaugurated by Smt. Seema Latkar, IPS Officer and SP of Mysore District, alongside esteemed industry figures, setting the stage for a thrilling showcase of talent and innovation.
 
In her address, SP Smt. Seema Latkar emphasized the importance of platforms like Naissance in nurturing future leaders and bridging the gap between academia and industry expectations.
 
Dr. (Lt Col) Prasad S.N, Director of SDMIMD, extended a warm welcome to all attendees, paving the way for a captivating exploration of Naissance 2024's theme "Vanguard of Tech Multiverse." Throughout the fest, participants engaged in a series of competitive Management events, showcasing their strategic acumen, innovative prowess, and managerial skills.
 
Naissance 2024 witnessed an overwhelming response, with over 475 participants representing 42 colleges from across India. This remarkable turnout is a testament to the growing popularity and relevance of Naissance as a platform for academic excellence, networking, and skill development.
 
Throughout the event, participants engaged in spirited competitions, showcasing their talents and innovative ideas across various domains. After intense deliberation and competition, the students from Christ University, Bangalore (Bannerghatta), emerged as the winners of Naissance 2024, while St. Aloysius University secured the runner-up position, demonstrating their exceptional skills and strategic acumen.
 
Naissance 2024 concluded with a Prize Distribution ceremony for the winners and runners-up and all the participants. As the fest concluded, participants departed with newfound insights and connections, marking Naissance 2024 as a resounding success in the realm of management education.

75th Republic Day celebrations

The 75th Republic Day of our nation, India, was celebrated in our institute with great respect. Mrs. Taramalini V., the Librarian, unfurled the National flag, and everyone sang the National Anthem. In her speech, Mrs. Tara talked about the values of life and encouraged everyone to continue practicing them. Students shared their views about the National Day and presented cultural programs.

Webinar on Emotional Intelligence

Collegeduniya organized a webinar on January 24, 2024, for PGDM aspirants. Dr. Mousumi Sengupta, Professor of Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Management at SDMIMD, delivered a talk on 'Emotional Intelligence' and engaged with a large group of students during the webinar. Dr. Sengupta's expertise and insights provided invaluable guidance to audience, equipping them with the essential knowledge and skills necessary for managerial success in the contemporary business world.

SDMIMD proudly hosted the 5th International New Age Marketing Conference - Marketing in the age of digital transformation: strategies for sustainable success, a confluence of innovative minds and thought leaders in the field of marketing. The conference commenced with a lamp lighting ceremony by dignitaries including Dr. Anandakuttan B. Unnithan, Mr. Manoj Pasangha, and SDMIMD’s own faculty and students, symbolizing a bright future for marketing in the digital era.
 
Dr. Keerthan Raj, the Conference Chair, introduced the theme, emphasizing innovation and growth through dynamic new age marketing, highlighting the submission of 80 knowledge-rich research papers. Director Dr. (Lt. Col) S.N. Prasad extended a warm welcome and shared his vision on the marketing evolution, from word-of-mouth to the digital transformation of today, underscoring technology’s role in reshaping strategies and customer engagement.
 
Keynote speaker Dr. Anandakuttan B. Unnithan delved into the digital disruption's impact, drawing parallels between past and present marketing tools, and illustrating the profound changes in banking and media. His captivating talk touched on the art of customer conversion and the predictive potential of connected technologies.
 
Mr. Manoj Pasangha continued with a compelling discourse on the constancy of marketing principles amidst shifting mediums, the transformation of consumer behaviors, and the power of data analytics. His presentation covered pivotal strategies for the digital age, from content marketing to SEO, and the need for adaptability and customer-centric approaches.
 
The conference featured paper presentations that showcased cutting-edge marketing insights and concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. S. Saibaba, expressing gratitude to all contributors. The valedictory address promises further enrichment with esteemed speakers including Dr. Rangan Varadan, Shri S N Rao, Dr. Tathagata Ghosh, and Mr. Stanley Jacob, ensuring a continued tradition of excellence at SDMIMD.

CMDP for Rane Group

The Corporate Management Development Program (CMDP), Module 2, was conducted for the third batch of 20 participants from Rane Group of companies at SDMIMD, Mysore, on January 22nd and 23rd, 2024. The CMDP sessions started on December 27th, 2023, and will conclude on February 16th, 2024, at Rane Group Training Centre, Chennai.

13th Mysuru edition of Start up Payanam

SDMIMD, under the E-Cell, hosted the 13th Mysuru edition of Start-up Payanam on January 11, 2024. Start-up Payanam is an event designed to encourage and provide insights into entrepreneurial journeys. The idea is to hear about the experiences of senior entrepreneurs, both successes and failures, and how they overcame challenging situations. This initiative aims to foster entrepreneurship among young fellow founders. Speakers such as Mr. Sudheer K S, a senior official of the KDEM Mysuru chapter, Mr. Murali Mohan, founder of Learners Academy and Educational Institution, Ms. Kavitha, a third-generation entrepreneur, and others, shared their insights and journeys during the program.

Workshop on Essentials of ERP

The Centre for Advanced Learning (CAL) committee of SDMIMD conducted a workshop on the essentials of ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) for first-year students of PGDM 2023-25 on January 10, 2024. The workshop aimed to provide a comprehensive understanding of ERP systems and their significance in today's dynamic business environment. Dr. Neetu Ganapathy, a renowned expert in the field, shared valuable insights and practical knowledge to equip attendees with a solid foundation in ERP concepts.

The workshop included the following:

  • Streamlining business processes, enhancing collaboration, improving decision-making, and optimizing resource utilization through ERP.
  • Gaining a deeper understanding of ERP's role in organizational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Exploring key aspects, including ERP modules, implementation challenges, and the impact on business operations.
  • Engaging in discussions, asking questions, and interacting with Dr. Neetu Ganapathy for an enriched learning experience.

ESG Seminar on Women Empowerment: Issues and Challenges

To bring awareness about the need and issues related to women empowerment in India, a seminar was conducted by Dr. Mousumi Sengupta, Professor – HRM at SDMIMD. During the seminar, it was discussed that empowering women generally means to facilitate the process of increasing women’s access to control over the strategic life choices that affect them to realize their capacities and status in life. Women empowerment was discussed in regard to social, educational and economic conditions. With several examples, Dr. Mousumi explained how empowerment strengthens women’s positions in social structures, giving them a larger purpose. It was also discussed that, women needed education to boost the self-confidence, self-esteem, and to become self-sufficient. Being at economic disadvantage could take away access to becoming empowered. Thus, economic independence needed to be a significant step towards women empowerment.
 
In the seminar, the students were also informed about how government and non-government organizations, along with several multinational and Indian companies have been involved into enhancing women empowerment in India and how the employees are encouraged to bring innovative ideas in the same context. The seminar also involved the participating students, who proposed certain initiatives to support the movement towards increased women empowerment.
