Visit of Porto Business School Delegation to SDMIMD

A group of 8 faculty and alumni members from Porto Business School, Portugal, visited SDMIMD from November 11 to November 16, 2024, as part of an exchange visit. SDMIMD has an exchange agreement with Porto University, Portugal, for student and faculty exchanges. During the week-long program, the visiting team participated in academic sessions, corporate visits, social projects, and wellness sessions, including yoga. The team was led by Dr. Susana Leāo, Director of Legal and Institutional Affairs at Porto University.

Sammilana '24: A Day of Celebration of the SDMIMD Family!

On October 30, 2024, SDMIMD hosted Sammilana '24, a vibrant gathering that brought together faculty, staff, and their families for a memorable day of celebration and camaraderie. The event offered family members a unique opportunity to experience the SDMIMD campus, its heritage, and its welcoming community.
 
The day began with lively games at the Amphitheatre, sparking friendly competition and laughter among participants. This was followed by a cultural program showcasing a variety of performances and highlighting the diverse talents within the SDMIMD family. The afternoon included a delicious lunch, where everyone enjoyed connecting and sharing stories over a meal. The event concluded with warm wishes as attendees departed to celebrate Deepavali with their families, carrying with them fond memories of Sammilana '24.

Guest Lecture: "SAP Products and Technologies Landscape"

SDMIMD recently hosted Mr. Sudhir from SAP, Mysore, for an insightful session on "SAP Products and Technologies Landscape" on October 26, 2024. The talk provided an overview of SAP's innovative products and evolving technologies, highlighting their impact on modern businesses. The session was highly informative, leaving participants with valuable knowledge about SAP's contributions to the technology landscape.

12th International Finance Conference

The 12th International Finance Conference at SDMIMD, held in collaboration with BCIC, successfully brought together insightful ideas, pioneering research, and engaging discussions led by distinguished corporate leaders, academics, and researchers.
 
The conference was inaugurated on October 24 by Mr. Sri Ram Ranganathan, Vice President at Wipro, alongside Dr. Mousumi Sengupta, Dean of International Relations, and Dr. M. Sriram, Associate Professor of Finance and Conference Chair. Dr. Sriram introduced the conference theme, highlighting favorable factors for Indian financial market growth amid global uncertainties. Dr. Sengupta spoke on the critical role of digitization in enhancing financial inclusion.
 
In his keynote, Mr. Ranganathan detailed the evolution of India’s capital markets, noting how domestic fund inflows provide stability amid fluctuating foreign portfolio investments (FPI). He emphasized the rising need for finance professionals to possess both technical and soft skills.
 
The event continued with a technical session led by Mr. Arun Mohanty from Aditya Birla Sun Life AMC Ltd., who discussed the impact of digital transformation and India’s demographic strengths on financial growth. He highlighted a shift in behavior from savings to investments, fueling both individual and national economic progress.
 
Day two began with insights from Mr. Bharathram Lokkur, Director at Lokkur Finvest Pvt Ltd., on the Indian capital market's evolution, FII dynamics, and valuation metrics for informed investment decisions. Across both days, delegates presented around 40 research papers on topics such as herding behavior, blockchain adoption, ESG analysis, and fintech’s role in financial inclusion.
 
The conference concluded with a valedictory address by Mr. Badri Narayanan, celebrating the success of this collaborative platform for breakthrough finance research and discourse. The enthusiasm and contributions from participants underscored the event’s impact on emerging trends in corporate finance and financial markets.

In the CSR Survey 2024, SDMIMD has earned distinguished rankings, reflecting its commitment to quality education and industry relevance. The institute stands 5th among the "Top 17 Leading Private B-Schools of Super Excellence" and 4th among the "Top 15 B-Schools" (Government and Private) in Karnataka. SDMIMD also ranks 9th for Faculty, Publications, Research, Consultancy, MDP & Other Programs and 14th for Placements, Social Responsibility, Networking & Industry Interface. These accolades highlight SDMIMD's excellence in academics, impactful research, and strong industry connections.

Advanced Management Development Programme Workshop for Wuerth Elektronik Executives

On October 21, 2024, SDMIMD, Mysore, hosted the Advance Management Development Programme (MDP) workshop for 18 mid-senior-level executives from Wuerth Elektronik. Dr. S.N. Prasad, Director of SDMIMD, led the morning session, focusing on developing supervisory and managerial skills in today’s evolving business landscape and discussing the qualities of a successful and effective manager. The session also included presentations by nine participant teams on their assigned projects.
 
The valedictory session featured an address by Mr. Harsha Adya, Managing Director of Wuerth Elektronik, followed by remarks from the SDMIMD Director and the Business Heads of Wuerth Elektronik India. Dr. Lt. Col. Prasad SN, Prof. Girish Gopalarao, and Dr. Mohamed Minhaj served as the faculty resource persons for the workshop, while Dr. Nanda Kishore Shetty, Chairperson of Corporate and External Training Programs at SDMIMD, Mysore, supervised the program.

SDMIMD and Rotary Club of Mysore Host Blood Donation Drive

On October 19, 2024, SDMIMD, in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Mysore, organized a successful blood donation drive. Led by the L.I.F.E and ANTS committees, the event was inaugurated by Prof. Sridhar CV, Mr. Sameer Kashyap, and Mr. Praveen.
 
With 82 students donating blood, the drive reflected SDMIMD's commitment to social responsibility and community welfare. The seamless organization and enthusiastic participation showcased the institution's spirit of compassion and philanthropy.

Session on "Harness The True Power of Your Mind"

SDMIMD hosted an engaging session by Mr. Vittal Setty, Product Line Manager at Infosys, Mysore, and an active member of ISKCON, on October 16, 2024. The talk, titled "Harness The True Power of Your Mind," captivated the audience with its thought-provoking insights.
 
Mr. Setty emphasized techniques to unlock mental potential, foster self-awareness, and cultivate a positive mindset. The session left a lasting impact on the participants, inspiring them to harness the power of their minds to achieve personal and professional excellence.

Outlook-ICARE Rankings of India's Best B-Schools 2025

SDMIMD, Mysore, has been ranked 16th among the Top 200 Private B-Schools in India, securing 4th in the South Zone and 9th among Private Standalone Institutions. These rankings reflect SDMIMD's excellence and leadership in management education nationwide.

SDMIMD Bags Prize in Dasara Flower Show Competition 2024

SDMIMD won the Best Prize in the Ornamental Plant Category at the recently held Dasara Flower Show Competition, organized by the Department of Horticulture, Government of Karnataka. SDMIMD has been winning prizes in the Dasara Flower Show Competitions since 2004.
