ALT 2021 by Dr. Barry O'Mahony of Abu Dhabi University

SDMIMD organized the 12th edition of Annual Leadership Talk (ALT) 2021 on Thursday, February 11, 2021 on Virtual Mode. Prof. Barry O'Mahony, Dean, College of Business; and, Professor of Services Management, Abu Dhabi University, delivered the talk on the topic 'Future of Work-Creating Possibilities - Using Workplace Digitization'.
 
Dr. O’Mahony stressed that achieving customer satisfaction and to develop customer loyalty is the core in every service-oriented venture. Leadership styles and ability to manage things play vital role in this achievement.  emphasis on customer loyalty within the service sector has led to the development of the relationship marketing paradigm. Whilst relationships between buyers and sellers are complex, there are multiple models proffered by academics that contribute to an understanding of the determinants of relationship development.
 
With anecdotes from his experience in hotel industry and from his research, the speaker Recounted specific real-life incidents demonstrating multiple sides of what constitutes good customer satisfaction practices. 
 
Student event coordinator Ms. Sanjana Srinath welcomed the gathering and moderated the Question & Answer session. Mr. Hemanth Sharma gave a brief note on the significance & value addition created by the Annual Leadership Talks held year after year for both the academicians as well as the student community; and introduced the speaker of ALT 2021. Ms. Amrutha Anil rendered the invocation. 
 
Invitees from corporate & academia, Director of SDMIMD Dr. N.R. Parasuraman, faculty members, staff, alumni, and students were present during the virtual event.

Case Studies of SDMIMD Faculty Published by the AIMA Case Research Centre

The India Case Research Centre is a prestigious case repository and online case publication platform of the All India Management Association (AIMA), New Delhi. It publishes case studies of the highest quality that are developed on the Indian scenario with the teaching notes. The objective is to cater the requirements of the Faculty with the relevant and contemporary management cases. After passing through a rigorous review and revision process, the AIMA India Case Research Centre, in the year 2020, published four cases studies with the teaching notes authored by the Faculty of SDMIMD. Celebration of 72nd Republic Day

SDMites celebrated the 72nd Republic Day by adhering the norms of the new normal. Prof. S. Kannadas, Assistant Professor - Finance, SDMIMD, Mysore, hoisted the tri-colour flag and addressed the gathering. Prof. Kannadas spoke about the importance of adopting a new normal life Post-COVID-19 situation and how India performed the leadership role in managing the crisis & offering 2 vaccines to the world to come out of it. Highlighting the focus of New education policy announced by the government, he opined that the Post COVID-19 era will be a crucial period of industrial reformations in India.

Invited talk on Research Quality and Visibility

Dr. I.R.N. Goudar, Ex. Scientist 'G' and Head ICAST, National Aeronautical Laboratory (NAL) presented the talk on 'Strategies to Enhance the Quality and Visibility of Research in the Context of NIRF' to the faculty members on Friday, January 22, 2021, online.
 
Dr. Goudar focused the talk on presenting the research output of SDMIMD faculty members. Presenting the key criteria which impact the h-index of an organization, he said research publication, project grants, applied research, and international collaboration for academic research play a major role in the current context. The speaker presented and discussed the SDMIMD faculty research output over the years.

Student Exchange Program 2021

As part of the students exchange program 27 select students will be visiting seven different international foreign universities for a whole term of study. During the program SDMIMD students will be studying with many international students and get taught by several faculty from different nationalities. The experience of having different pedagogy is invaluable for their growth. Besides the facility to do cases and projects with students of other nationalities and background affords cross-cultural understanding. Further, the evaluation technique used in these schools enables students to be on their toes and prove their mettle.

Recognition from EFMD Global to Dr. N.R. Parasuraman

Dr N.R. Parasuraman, Director, SDMIMD, received ‘Certificate of Recognition’ for the outstanding commitment and contribution to the management education globally during COVID-19 pandemic situation. EFMD Global has recognized the driving excellence in adoption of technology for the teaching & learning process and participation in academic responsibilities.

SDMite Khushboo Session for Mangalore Jail inmates

Our student, Toastmaster Khushboo Rani, VP Education - SDMIMD Toastmasters, had the privilege of taking an Educational Session on December 20, 2020 for the inmates of Mangalore District prison. This effort was part of Speechcraft-an initiative of Mangalore Toastmasters Club, which aims to uplift and educate the prison inmates and help them communicate effectively. This session saw active participation by other members of our club.

SDMite selected by CYL for India-Malta Cultural Confluence

Confederation of Young Leaders (CYL) with the rigorous process selected Mr. Sai Sri Harsha of PGDM 2020-2021 to participate in the India – Malta Cultural Confluence held on December 29, 2020, and to interact with H.E. Mr. Reuben Gauci, High Commissioner of the Republic of Malta. Mr. Harsha discussed the Diplomatic relations & trade activities between India and the Republic of Malta; India’s Support to Malta in getting independence from Britishers; and, promoting tourist attractions in India. 

SDMite participates in India-Zimbabwe Cultural Confluence

Mr. Sai Sri Harsha of PGDM 2020-2021, was selected by the Confederation of Young Leaders (CYL) to participate in the India – Zimbabwe Cultural Confluence held on December 19, 2020. During the Confluence, Mr. Harsha interacted with  H.E Dr. G. M. Chipare, Ambassador of Zimbabwe to India, and discussed India - Zimbabwe relations trade, culture, and strong cordial relations.
