Workshop on Indian Society in Transition by Dr. R. Indira Ramarao

Dr. R. Indira Ramarao, retired Professor of Sociology and former Director of the International Center at the University of Mysuru, conducted a workshop on "Indian Society in Transition" for the PGDM 2024-2026 batch. The workshop was organized as part of the orientation program on July 18, 2024.

Invited Talk on "Inspiration for Young Minds" by Mr. K.S. Gururaja

Mr. K.S. Gururaja, Founder Trustee of Ashakirana Charitable Trust, delivered an inspiring talk on "Inspiration for Young Minds" to the PGDM Batch 2024-2026 on July 19, 2024, which was organized as part of the orientation program. Mr. Gururaja shared his experiences and insights, focusing on perseverance, self-belief, and a positive mindset.
 
He also discussed his work in healthcare, including his support for students with AIDS through his hospital and his ongoing efforts to care for patients in other hospitals. Mr. Gururaja's commitment to social responsibility and community service provided a powerful example for the students, setting a strong foundation for their academic and professional journeys.

Talk by Mr. Anantkumar

On July 18, 2024, Mr. Anantkumar, Trustee of Divya Deepa Trust, delivered a talk and shared his experiences with the PGDM 2024-2026 students as part of their orientation program. He discussed his efforts to support underprivileged children by providing schooling and job opportunities.
 
Mr. Anantkumar highlighted how volunteers and organizations contribute to his trust through donations and teaching support. His talk provided valuable insights into his work and the impact of community involvement in education and employment for disadvantaged children.

Dr. M. Dharma Prasad's Guide to Communication Strategies for Career Advancement

Dr. M. Dharma Prasad, CEO and Chief Scientist of Prosetta Bioconformatics Pvt. Ltd., a US-based biotech/pharma company, delivered an enlightening session titled "From Campus to Corner Office: Uncharted Routes for Aspiring CXOs" on July 17, 2024, in Mysuru. He outlined four effective communication strategies: storytelling, presenting facts, asking questions, and using humor. Dr. Prasad emphasized the importance of speaking up, as those who communicate well are more likely to be promoted. He also encouraged students to be expressive in personal development, assuring them that there are no right or wrong answers.

Dr. Sathish Chandra's Engaging Talk on Leadership: Attitude, Confidence, and Innovation

Dr. Sathish Chandra, Chief Administrative Officer of JSS Medical College, Mysuru, delivered an engaging talk on "Leadership" on July 16, 2024. He emphasized the importance of attitude and confidence, illustrating that these qualities, when assessed alphabetically, sum up to 100%. Dr. Chandra encouraged students to think innovatively, be creative, and express themselves fully. This insightful session was part of the orientation program for the PGDM 2024-26 batch.

Mr. Ravi Kumar P's Key Insights on Networking, Knowledge, and Career Success

Mr. Ravi Kumar P, Head of HR at Feedback Advisory, delivered an insightful talk on July 18, 2024. He emphasized the importance of being well-versed in facts, numbers, and statistics. Mr. Kumar advised students to prioritize roles over companies, be realistic in their aspirations, and build networks within their desired companies and roles. He highlighted the significance of interacting through networking and collecting certifications. Mr. Kumar shared that recruiters often make their decision within the first two minutes and spend the next thirty minutes confirming it. He concluded by stressing that being knowledgeable helps in developing confidence. This session was a key part of the orientation program for the PGDM 2024-26 batch.

SDMIMD Commences Residential PGDM batch 2024-26

The commencement inauguration for the SDMIMD Residential 2-Year Full-time PGDM (MBA Equivalent) Batch 2024-26 was held on 15 July 2024. The chief guest, Dr. Usha Hegde, delivered an inspiring speech about her adventurous journey. Dr. Hegde, an accomplished mountaineer who scaled Mount Everest, captivated the audience with her tales of determination, resilience, and courage. She emphasized the importance of setting ambitious goals, maintaining perseverance in the face of challenges, and the value of teamwork. Her experiences on the treacherous slopes of Everest served as a powerful metaphor for the students, motivating them to strive for excellence and overcome obstacles in their academic and professional pursuits. Her speech left the students energized and ready to embark on their journeys with renewed vigour and confidence.

Resource Persons
Dr. Sunil M.V., is a Faculty in the area of Systems and General Management with over two decades of experience. He has contributed to academia and research in his area of expertise. As the former coordinator for SDM RCMS at SDMIMD, he significantly advanced the PhD program and promoted a research-oriented culture.
 
Dr. Anand Sasikumar is a Faculty in the Operations area at SDM Institute for Management Development, Mysuru. He has a Ph. D from National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE, Now IIM-Mumbai), Mumbai and Masters degree in Industrial engineering from Concordia university, Montreal, Canada . He has made significant contributions to academia and research.

In the talk delivered by Mr. Pradeep, Business Head of Home Loan & Micro-Mortgages at Ujjivan Small Finance Bank, and Mr. Rishukumar, National Product Manager of Home Loan, along with Mr. Samit Ghosh, founder of Ujjivan Financial Services, the focus was on affordable housing finance. The bank emphasized its commitment to making homeownership accessible to underserved segments of society. They highlighted innovative financial products and services tailored to meet the needs of low- and middle-income families. The talk covered the bank's flexible loan structures, lower interest rates, and simplified application processes, which make it easier for first-time homebuyers to secure funding. SDMIMD Mysore and Atlantis University Forge Academic Partnership to Foster Global Learning and Research

On 1st July 2024, SDMIMD Mysore and Atlantis University (AU), Florida, US entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), aiming to collaborate towards developing a supportive and inclusive learning environment, in the form of student and faculty exchange, conducting joint research, and so on.
 
On this occasion, Mr. Kailash Chintamani, MD of Atlantis University, US, stated that AU is looking forward to a fruitful academic partnership with SDMIMD.  Dr. S. N. Prasad, Director of SDMIMD, opined that, this academic association would give students at SDMIMD greater opportunities to get developed into global citizens. Dr. Mousumi Sengupta, Dean- International Relations of SDMIMD stated that the partnership would facilitate the students and faculty members of both the organizations, to get more involved into cross-cultural research.
